Independence Day!

July 4th was great! Jason was working, so Carlyn and I decided to go up to prescott for the weekend with my sister, mom and dad! It was so much fun. On the fourth, we went to the Prescott square and let Carlyn play in the grass and just run around. We also did a little bit of shopping! Carlyn got a turtle backpack and thought she was in love! The weather was beautiful, and Carlyn loved to feel the wind in her hair...she would put her arms out and say "Wheee" I loved the innocence! My aunt that lives there rescued some baby cottontail bunnies. They were only 15 days old and adorable! Carlyn loved them! Later in the afternoon, we went on a walk on a trail by the lake. It was beautiful! At night, we went and watched fireworks. She was amazed, she just stared, started clapping, look at me and said "I Like Lights"! I loved it...the best part was getting to watch her experience something new!

Yesterday was a rough day. I started off frustrated, came to work, and remained frustrated! I tried to think of Carlyn and Jason to get my mind off the frustration! When I came home, Carlyn was in her crib...talking to herself. I wanted to go in and say hi and goodnight. When I walked in she was standing up and got the biggest smile on her face! I picked her up, she put one arm around me, one arm around jason, hugged us both and said "Hi mommy daddy"! It was an insant reset to my day! To top it all off... I hugged her again and said "I missed you today" and she looked at me and said "I miss you"! Ah, that was it...my heart melted! Officially better mood!

One Year Older

Jason turned 28 on June 9th! We went to dinner for his birthday, and spent time with our families! On June 11th, a lot of our friends got together at Nandos to celebrate Jason's birthday again! It was so nice to see so many people there! Jason didn't know it, but I had my cousin make a cake for him. This is the same cousin who made my wedding cake and my baby shower cake! It was in the shape of a Jack Daniels bottle, and it turned out AMAZING! Afterwards, we went to Toby Keiths and just had a good time! Happy Birthday Hubby!

Carlyn was sining on our way home in the car last night. She cracks me up! She wasn't mad...just tired...and singing! I love the way she "expresses" herself! There are two videos because I couldn't choose. At the end of one, she says Love you!

I know Carlyn is only just about 15months, but for the past month or so, she has been telling us when she needs to poop! So, we bought a potty...an elmo potty...just to see what she would do. For the past couple of weeks, we have been putting her on it when she tells us she needs to go. She sits for a while, asks to get down, and if I entertain or distract her, she will stay up there...and the other day...she went pee-pee on the potty!!! YEAH!!! She has gone two or three times. I hope this continues, but am not going to push her since she is still so young! However, I was potty trained at 16months, so we'll see! Any suggesstions from you expert moms out there???

Birthday Gelato

Jason was working on my birthday...I was a little bummed, but we did get to celebrate later together with a nice dinner at the Keg! It was great! On my actual birthday, Carlyn and I got to hang out all day, and then we went and got gelato. Carlyn very rarely gets something so sweet, and when she does, she doesn't really like it...she'd rather be eating pasta! BUT...she LOVED the gelato! We shared, and she kept handing me her spoon and saying more, and then as soon as she would stick the spoon in her mouth (all by herself, may I add) she would say "Mmmmm"! The day ended with dinner at my moms and dads! It was a great way to spend my birthday!

Easter 2010

Easter was so fun this year! We started out by hearing a great service at church, then headed to my mom's for some lunch and easter egg hunting! My mom wasn't sure what to put in the eggs...but finally decided on quarters! She figured she was to young for candy, but she LOVES her piggy bank, so that's what she did! It worked out great! She loved opening the eggs, and then carefully putting the quarters in the piggy bank! After that we went to Jason's Nana's for MORE food! Carlyn finally passed out! It was such a great day!

Carlyn now has 7 teeth, three of which have come in the last month! We let her play around with her toothbrush before, and had brushed them with water, but we just recently started introducing how to REALLY brush our teeth every night. We started with water, and then used bubblegum toothpaste! I let her taste it and play with her toothbrush before we brushed her teeth. She did great! Let's hope this starts an early healthy habit!

Three years ago today, I said the best two words I've ever said..."I Do"! I am so blessed to have the husband I do! We didn't do much for our anniversary this year, we had a yummy fantastic dinner! We have been through so much, and this past year was probabley held some of the biggest changes! I can't wait to see what the years bring, and how much our love grows! 3 years down...forever to go! I can't wait!

The weather here in Arizona is getting BeAuTiFuL! Jason and I really wanted to take Carlyn to the zoo on her birthday, but since she was sick, we had to wait! She loved the petting zoo after some encourgement from her daddy! I took her on the carousel before we left, and she thought it was so much fun! I love this time of year, and am not looking forward the the HOT season that is about to come!

Aloha Festival

The Aloha Festival was in town at Tempe Marketplace. My mom, sister, and I decided we would go and see what it was all about. There was lots of yummy food and delicious hawaiian shaved ice! Carlyn got to run around, and it was beautiful outside! All in all...a fun day!

Carlyn started walking today...while I was at work, of course...but I got to see her when I got home. She ran to me, gave me a hug and kiss, and then said "down"! She is walking EVERYWHERE!!!

I can't believe my little girl is 1! It's amazing how fast it really goes by. Carlyn is doing wonderful. She weighs about 22 lbs, and we were finally able to turn her car seat around (per her doctors) and she LOVES it! She is in the 90th percentile for her height! She is learning something new everyday...and still is insistant upon repeating EVERYTHING we say! Her new words include balloon, button, baby, hot, woah!, more, please, mine, and my favorite...CARLYN!!! She's so cute, she points to herself and says her own name! She is still working on the C sound, so it comes out Talyn, but it's pretty clear she's trying to say her name! She's such a talker! She is starting to walk a little more...but only from me or Jason to the couch or to someone else. She hasn't just taken off yet! Soon, I think! She loves to KISS everything!!! The dog, the cat, your knee, your cheek, her baby doll...whatever is there, she will kiss! That's my favorite part...I love the kisses!

I didn't think I would, but I had a really hard time with 1! Why?! I thought I'd be nothing but excited, but I was sad that I was loosing the "baby" in her! I cried to my mom, who then said "One day you'll look at her and think...oh my gosh...SHE has a baby that is turning one!" WHAT?! That just made me cry even more! It's not that I miss having A baby around, just her as a baby! I am so excited for the months to come, things will just get more fun and exciting! It's just hard to let go of that phase! Kindergarden will be VERY hard for me! These are all pictures from the last month!

Carlyn has the best family and friends a little girl could ask for! Her birthday party was great! Thanks to everyone who came! We did a cookie monster theme, since that is what Carlyn loves right now! Everything turned out great, and it was beautiful outside, so all the kids could play! Here are a few pictures of the party! She got a lot of presents, including a pink fishing pole and a camouflage puppy!

Unfortunatley, Carlyn got sick after her party and started to get a fever. Her fever went up to 104.5! I tried to think like a logical RN, but at that moment, I wasn't a nurse, I was a MOM! We gave her a cool bath, and her temperature went down enough to calm me down. For the next three days...including her actual birthday...she just slept and cried. She wouldn't eat, drink, or play! She was definitley not acting like herself. I was so worried. On Tuesday night, we went to urgent care. They tested her urine, but it was clean. They think it was Roseola...a virus that kids get. She broke out in a rash the next day, and started to feel much better! My poor baby girl. Here is a picture of her at her first trip to the urgent care!

One year ago today, I began to understand how you can love someone SO small SO very much!Today is her official birthday! Carlyn is sick today, but she did feel better long enough to play with her Mimi, Auntie D, and Aunti Jenn! Here are a few pictures from the day! 11 Months Old!

I can't believe I'm one month away from no longer having a baby...but a toddler! It's just crazy! She is always talking and ALWAYS on the go! She is taking four to seven steps on her own, but will still only walk from one person to another, noting "on her own". She crawls everywhere too...now that she knows how! New words include night, blankie (balana), cup, drink, bear,bow, and light. She has perfected Bella and Cat, and says them ALL the time! She tries to repeat EVERYTHING we say, and most of the time says her own version of it! She loves to talk to Rosco, and gets very upset when Granny plays with him instead of her! She stomps her feet and yells "no no no"! She LOVES to dance, and does so everytime she hears music! She also loves giving kisses, and even tries to sneak one in when she's postponing sleep! She still fights sleep and most nap times are a struggle, but she seems to be getting better. Night time is still great! She is so sweet,and loves when you tell her "good girl", but definitley has a temper when she doesn't get her way! She loves to sing Patty Cake and Itsy Bitsy spider, and does or tries to do the hand movements! I can't believe one year ago, we were so anxious to meet her, and now we are so blessed and can't imagine life without her!

Today, I took Carlyn and Rosco to the park. They were both in bad moods and we all needed some fresh air! I love that in January, you can go to the park and play...without freezing! The grass doesn't look so pretty, but it was a fun day anyway!

10 Months Old

That's right...Carlyn is already 10 months old! I can't believe how fast the time goes by! It's crazy! She is really trying to walk right now. She walks with her push toys, but is still hesitant in starting...but once she gets going...she's off! She still has NOT crawled! She knows what she wants, and that is to walk! My guess would be in the next month, she'll be walking! She still tries to talk, and say EVERYTHING we say! It's so cute to watch her look at us so intensly, and then say the word! She is so proud of herself! Her new words are back, down, Pa Pa, puppy, and done! Here are some pictures from the past month...some people are saying she's starting to look more like me!!!

This New Year's Eve, Jason and I went to dinner with our friends Megan and Colton, and then went back to our house, said Happy New Year at midnight (which I barely made it to), and then off to bed we went, at 1220! It was perfect!

This past year has been amazing! I finished up my pregnancy and it ended with a beautiful, healthy, happy baby girl! She is the best thing to happen to Jason and I. She is so much fun to watch, listen to, and so easy to LOVE! This year, I also decided that I no longer want to be a pediatric nurse practitioner. I am not sure what I want to be "when I grow up". I know an RN is enough, but it's just not what I want to do forever. I'm thinking I might want to be a legal nurse consultant...but we'll see what the future brings. So, for now, school is on hold. I don't want to spend all this money, and spend all this time for something I'm not sure I want to do. It's driving me crazy not to be in school and working toward something, but it's wonderful to have the time to spend with Carlyn. Jason is working extra shifts to save up to build his own gun! Him and his hunting stuff! But, it's what he loves to do. We can't wait to see what changes 2010 hold for us!

1st Christmas!

Carlyn is almost 10 months old, so I knew she wouldn't really understand Christmas, but was excited none the less! Jason had to work Christmas Eve, so Carlyn and I stayed at my mom's house on Christmas Eve, just like old times! My mom read the Christmas story of Jesus, like she has every other year! The next morning, we had our traditional Christmas breakfast of red and green pancakes, and biscuits and gravy! Carlyn just ate a red pancake! We then went to Jason's parents to open gifts with them, then back to my mom's to open gifts and eat lunch, then to Jason's Nana to open MORE gifts, and eat MORE food! It was a very busy day, but a wonderful Christmas spent with family! Carlyn got LOTS of toys, that Jason and I ended up opening! Carlyn just wanted to eat the tissue paper and envelopes! I can't wait to see her play with all her new toys, and maybe test a few out myself, Ha ha!

Our friends had an 80s themed Christmas Party! It was a lot of fun to get dressed up and see what everyone else was going to wear! There were some pretty funny outfits...one guy even dressed as Tom Cruise in Risky Buisness....a dress shirt, tighty whities, socks, and sunglasses...and that's it! Jason really wanted to go as Tubbs from Miami Vice...and everyone said he looked just like him! Thanks Mandy and Jason for throwing a great Christmas Party!

It's been a tradition, for the past four years, that we go to Zoolights at the Phoenix Zoo! We go with our friends Colton and Megan, and we were so excited to take Carlyn this year! She loved looking at all the lights. She stared in amazement as they twinkled and even made noise! It wasn't too cold outside, which made it easier to walk through! Her favorite part was the light show that plays music! She tries to say "pretty lights", but it really comes out as "Pa La"! I can't wait to go again next year!

Jason and I went to Vegas with a couple of friends, Anne and Derrek, for their December birthdays! It was really nice, but really hard at the same time. It was the first time we've left Carlyn for more than one night! (Actually, more than 17 hours!) She stayed with my mom on Friday night, and Jason's on Saturday. It was a lot of fun, and I'm glad that Carlyn has such wonderful grandparents that LOVE to keep her overnight! Jason did great...the first couple of days! He was up about $500! He was so excited to have a $500 chip! By the end of the trip, he ended up $100. Not too bad! On Saturday night, we went to see Larry the Cable Guy. It was awesome. He was pretty funny! We had so much fun! Happy Birthday Anne & Derrek!

Thanksgiving 2009

We have SO much to be thankful for this year. We are so thankful to have each other and our beautiful, healthy, little girl! I am also thankful that I got cancelled from work this year, and got to spend Thanksgiving with my family. My mom made dinner on Wednesday, since I was supposed to work! It was so yummy, I LOVE fried turkey! On Thursday, we spent the day with the Newmans! It was so much fun, as always! Taylor, Jason's sister was in town from colege, and we got to spend time with her, and she was able to spend time with Carlyn! Carlyn got to try her first thanksgiving foods, and she seemed to LOVE sweet potato pie...just like daddy! We ate, laughed, played a mean game of whiffle ball, and then sat by a fire outside! I am thankful for such an amazing family, and a wonderful holiday!

9 months old!

I can't believe how fast the time goes by! Carlyn is 9 months old today! We took her for her 9 month appointment last week. She is doing great, other than her reflux. Her reflux had gotten worse the couple week prior to her appointment. We talked to her doctor about it, and he increased both of her reflux medications. I was a little bummed since this is normally the time they try to get them off of the medication...when they "grow out of it". But, she is doing much better now that the meds are on board!

Carlyn is weighing in at 17lbs, 10.5oz! She is 27 inches long. So, that puts her in the 40th% for weight, and the 50th% for height! She has such long legs too! Carlyn REALLY wants to walk. If you hold her hands, she just takes off! She never wants to sit or lay down anymore...she always wants to stand up and walk around! She also has NO interest in crawling! She gets on all fours, and then pushed herself to try to stand up! The doctor says he's pretty sure she'll skip crawling, and as long as she's rolling around to get what she wants, he's okay with that! She's SO stubborn!

She is at such a fun age right now! We just love her and have so much fun with her! She loves to play with her toes...especially her cookie monster! And, her favorite toy lately....Dude, the cat! She loves him. When shes' playing on the floor, and she sees him, she gets so excited and kicks her legs and says "C..T! She says the C and the T, but not really together, she says them as two different sounds! Dude also loves Carlyn, and he will lay down with her and play! They are buddies! Rosco is feeling a little left out!

Carlyn has a few "words" that she says...well tries to say anyway! She tries to say cat, up, no no, bye bye, and stop. She really says the consonants, but she knows what she's trying to say. She also has mama and dada down! She will point to us and say mama and dada...then we ask her where Carlyn is at, and she points to herself and smiles! She is also clapping and waving bye-bye. Carlyn is laughing and smiling all the time! Carlyn loves all her aunts and grandparents...and she gets so excited to see them. the time is going by so fast, I feel like I can't keep up with how fast she is growing! We are just having so much fun with her, and look forward to the next three months of her first year!

Veterans Day is also special in our house, being that Jason is a Vet! I also try to make it special anyway...he says "it's no big deal". I try to remind him every year, that it is a big deal and I am SO very proud of who he is! He is our very own hero, and I am so appreciative that he fought for this country and our family!

My friend Sarah, who I went to high school with...and now lives in Finland, was in town. I had told her previously that I wanted her to take pictures of Carlyn while she was here...but I ALSO wanted to see her and her ADORABLE son Benjy! It was a lot of fun to watch the two interact. Pumpkin Patch

The Good and the Bad

Let's start with the bad...Carlyn got sick! It was awful. She was throwing up, had a fever, a rash on her tummy, and worst of all...she just wanted to lay around and cry. This is so not like Carlyn. It was awful to watch. She had some kind of virus, and it just had to run it's course! A day of pedialyte and rest made her feel much better! The next day we started slow with milk, and by the end of the day she was smiling! The next day she was almost back to normal! We were supposed to go to on a mini vacation, and weren't sure if we should still go...but it had been 48 hours with no throwing up, a much happier baby, and eating normal...so, the good news...off to Mexico we went!

Mexico was a blast! We went with my father, mother, and sister in law. We stayed at my Uncle's condo in Rocky Point...right on the beach! The water was so nice and relaxing. Me, Drea, and Jason hung out there most of the time. Carlyn had a great time with her Mimi and Big Daddy watching the water come in, and all the kids playing on the beach. We also got to go into town and get some yummy shrimp to bring home! It was so much fun, and I can't wait to do it again!

It has been absolutley beautiful out lately! The high has been in the 80s, and I remember, at this time of year, why I suffer through the summers! Carlyn and I have been going to the park almost every day that I'm off. She loved looking at the ducks and all the other kids playing. Carlyn LOVES to be outside, and just enjoys the sights and sounds of nature! It is so fun to watch her discover new things...like the taste of grass isn't as good as she may have thought!

She has done really well with most solid foods...she loves carrots, sweet potatoes, green beans, and ANY fruit! Let's just say the second day of squash didn't go as well as the first!

Half a Year Old

So, technically, Carlyn is 6 and a half months old. It's been a while since I've updated about her, so there is a lot of words and pictures. From the time Carlyn was 6 weeks old, she's been sleeping through the night...until she was 4 and a half months old...after we got back from California. Then, she started waking up once a night...every night. That turned into twice a night. To top it off, Carlyn has never napped well, and we've tried it all. When letting her "cry it out" she would SCREAM until we picked her up, then would fall asleep in our arms in 5 minutes. The second we lay her back down...she is wide awake! So, I knew at night she wouldn't cry herself back to sleep. She gets overworked, and can't calm herself down. So, we would pick her up and rock her back to sleep. AAAAHHHHH!!! I was so frustrated. She wasn't waking up to eat...she just didn't know how to put herself back to sleep. At her 6 month appointment, the doctor said she had a "persistent" personality - aka -she's STUBBORN! This is why the "cry it out" method doesn't work with her. Good to know! She started napping better during the day in the last couple of weeks. Most times, she will go down for anywhere from 45 min to an hour and a half. YEAH!!! We are very excited about this. One night...I was soo tired, and let her cry for twenty minutes in the middle of the night. She never screamed, just whined...and what do you know??? She fell back asleep! So, now she is sleeping through the night again. She does wake up every once in a while, but puts herself back to sleep within twenty minutes!

Other than sleeping, Carlyn is doing great! She rolls from her tummy to her back, which makes tummy time hard! She can roll the other way too...she just doesn't want to...again, it's that stubborn thing! She started sitting up by herself when she was four and a half months old...and LOVES it! She wants to sit all the time now...that is when she's not standing (with help of course!). We are currently working on crawling!

Carlyn is teething, and has been for about 6 weeks. It's awful! She drools more than Rosco, chews on EVERYTHING, and rubs her gums with her tongue...but so far...nothing! We are still waiting! I can't wait for her to get a tooth, so she stops hurting so much, but at the same time, it makes me a little sad...it's going by so fast. I can't believe she's already half a year old! It's just crazy!

She laughs ALL the time, especially at mommy and daddy...which we LOVE! It's one of the best sounds in the whole world! She is discovering something new every day, and we are having so much fun with her! I can't wait to see what she will do next.

California 2009 (World's longest Post EVER)

Every summer my family goes to California. It had been a couple of years because of me being pregnant last year. It was a lot of fun! It was nice to spend time with the family. She did great in the car and slept most of the time. My sister rode with us to entertain her in the back seat, but she would fall asleep within two minutes of us driving. Jason golfed every morning...and was in heaven! Me and Carlyn would wake up and take advantage of the beautiful weather and take a walk around the resort. Normally, she would fall asleep during the walk and we would head back to the room, have breakfast with my mom and sister, and wait for Jason to get done! Carlyn had a lot of "firsts" while we were there: going on vacation out of state, being at the beach, feeling the sand and water over her toes, swimming in a pool, taking a bubble bath, meeting Kenna (my cousin), going to Sea World...and her first bump and bruise. Warning...there are A LOT of pictures! I couldn't choose!

The beach was beautiful. I went to Coronado with my mom and my sister the first day and walked the beach to pick up sand dollars! Carlyn loved looking at the waves coming in and would just stare out at the ocean. Every once in a while, she would kick her legs and yell when she got really excited! We also all went to Oceanside. Jason got to boogey board and play with the kids! Carlyn got to feel the water come over her toes for the first time, and when it did, she started cracking up! She loved it! She smiled and just looked at the water and sand on her feet...and then, there was sand EVERYWHERE, her hair, her mouth, and her diaper! It was so fun to see her discovering all of the new sights and sounds of the ocean!

Every year, my family goes to Seaport Village. I love it there. They have this store that sells swings and hammocks...it's my favorite! Then we go to Anthony's Grotto! So yummy. Fried fish, shrimp, and fries oceanside. It doesn't get any better! When we got back from Seaport, we took Carlyn to the pool for the first time! She was very relaxed and chill in the pool. She didn't seem to mind it to bad, and then we went back to the condo and all took a long nap!

We also go wine tasting in Temecula while we are there. I love wine, and the wineries are just beautiful! We went to one this year that looks like a barn...right up my dad's alley! While the girls were wine tasting, the boys were waiting outside. My little cousin Adyn LOVES Carlyn, and she loves him right back. He was making her laugh so hard, and she wanted to hug and kiss him! They are going to be great friends one day!

We went to Sea World this year with my cousins. They wanted to take Adyn because he had never been. I haven't been in a very long time...and it was so fun! Carlyn went with us, but she would just look around at everything that was going on. I have to admit, I got a little emotional while we were there. I was standing up with Carlyn watching the Shamu show, the music was playing, and then it happened...Shamu popped out of the water and flew through the air! It made me feel just like a kid again, and I remembered how excited I got to see that when I was a kid...all while standing there holding my own child. It was just crazy! Later in the day Jason and my cousin JR took Carlyn back home. Me, my sister, my cousin Sharon, and Adyn all stayed to watch the night show. While we were waiting for it to start, we went to see the polar bears. We were taking pictures of the polar bears when this man who worked there asked if we wanted better pictures. We followed him back to the training pool of the Beluga Whales. It was insane. He let us feed them fish, pet them, and they even gave us a kiss on the cheek! It was the one of the neatest things I've done!

On Friday the girls went to the outlet malls and then we went to go watch the sunset at La Jolla Beach, while the boys golfed ALL day! The sunset was beautiful, as it always is at the beach! On the way back to the car the worst thing ever happened. I was holding Carlyn and tripped...and we both fell. She never left my arms, but she did hit the ground. I started screaming, and just picked her up and held her. I didn't want to let her go. I don't think I've ever been so scared in my entire life. My mom ran over to me and told me to look at her...she wasn't bleeding or anything. She was just crying really hard. My mom said it was probably more because I was screaming and crying than anything. We made it to a bench and I just held her and hugged her. She already had a big goose egg on her forehead. I felt awful...like the worst mother. I couldn't believe I let her fall. Everyone kept saying it was just an accident, but I felt like I should have been able to protect her more. I watched her all night. She was fine. She was eating fine, sleeping fine, waking up fine...it was me that was hurt, emotionally. My knees were dripping blood, but I didn't even feel it until the next morning. I didn't put her down all night. She slept in my arms until the next morning. I cried for two days...It was awful. Thinking back on it makes me cry. I know there will be many more bumps and bruises in her lifetime, but hopefully, they won't happen while she's in my arms, that's supposed to be the safest place.

All in all, it was a great trip! I can't wait to go again next year and see how she reacts to everything when she is a little older!

Rosco and Carlyn love each other. Carlyn gets VERY excited when she sees Rosco and even more excited when she gets to touch him. She laughs and kicks her legs really hard! Rosco always wants to be by her, and has even taken her toys to his pillow. He doesn't chew on them, he just wants them by him. (he got into a lot of trouble for this)! We let Rosco give her one kiss, and he's pretty good about it. I was watching her play on her blanket, and got this sequence of pictures! It is too cute.

July Fourth was a lot of fun this year! Carlyn had two different outfits, so she wore one on Friday and one on Saturday. A girl always has to look good, right?! My cousin Missy came into town and we were very excited to see her. We haven't seen her since we got married! She was also very excited to see Carlyn! On Friday, we went over to my mom's for a while and then we went over to my uncle's for some friendly family poker! This is a common event for my family...I didn't win. On Saturday, we went over to my mom's again, and she made a deep fried turkey! It was so yummy. There was a lot of family over and we had a great time! Thanks for coming to visit Missy! We miss you already!

Father's Day

I'm late, but still wanted to have a Father's Day post! I want to first start by saying Thank you to all the wonderful fathers out there, especially my dad, my father-in-law, and my husband. My dad is the best, he has taught me so much about life, love, and parenting! He does whatever it takes to always take care of the family! I love him so much, and he has become a

wonderful grandpa! My father-in-law is also an amazing man. He taught Jason enough to make him into the wonderful man he is today, and for that I love him! He gives the best hugs, and is also a wonderful grandpa or "big daddy", as we call him! Now, onto Jason! He is such a wonderful dad. He loves Carlyn more than words can say. It is the best thing in the world to watch your husband play with your daughter as they both laugh! I cannot wait to see what the years bring between the two of them as she continues to grow! So, it's been a while since I've update, and I feel like there is a lot of STUFF to share! First, Carlyn had her two month check up a couple weeks ago. I know, I should've posted sooner. She is officially in the double digits now! She was 10lbs, 7oz, and 22.5in long. She has grown out of all of her newborn sleepers (she is too long), and some of her newborn clothes. She loves to look around, and is very attentive when she's awake (which is most of the time). She is nosey and has to know EVERYTHING that is going on. She holds her head up all by herself and doesn't like when you try to help. She is going to be a "I can do it myself" kind of kid! She has rolled over a few more times, of course not in front of us or the camera. I think she knows when that thing is on. She talks all the time know too. She has started to coo and aww a lot more, and now that she knows she has a voice, she loves to use it. (I'm not sure why...her mom and dad aren't big talkers! ;-)) Every diaper change she tells me a new story! She is a happy baby, and when she isn't having a "serious" day, she smiles all the time. She is doing very well on her Zantac, and we are VERY thankful for it! She doesn't spit up as much anymore, and sleeps very well, at night anyways. She goes to bed around 8 or so, and doesn't wake up until 5. I am also very thankful for this too! During the day is another story. She doesn't want to take a nap unless she's laying on mommy or daddy. She takes cat naps of 20min, then wakes up and is ready to play again. We give her lots of floor time. She isn't too fond of her tummy time yet, but lifts her head up very well. She gets her knees under her, but then gets angry that she doesn't know what to do with them next. She scoots all around though. She is going to be my little mover and shaker! She loves to lay on her back, look at everything around her, and tell you what she sees! She is also starting to take notice of Rosco a little more. (Dude tries to stay away from her). She smiles when he comes and stands by her, and laughs when he sneaks a kiss in! Her laugh is the best sound in the world! I recently went back to work (which was SO hard), and my mom and sister-in-law get to watch her one day a week. They love it! I come home and rock her, a little bit longer on those nights, and get to watch her sleep. I look at her and think how utterly amazing she is, and that there can't be anything in this world better than being a mom. She is such a great baby, and we cannot wait to see what she will do next!

Mother's Day was great! My first one! On Saturday morning we met up with Jason's mom and sisters and my family and had breakfast at one of our favorite spots...TC Eggingtons! It was great to have everyone there! Then my sister, my mom, and I hung out all day. Jason had to work on Sunday, so Carlyn and I went over to my mom's for breakfast, hung out there in the morning, and then went to Jason's Nana's in the afternoon. Lunch was great, and Carlyn got to see her Mimi and her (Great) Nana. Carlyn (and Jason) had a ring made for me for Mother's Day. It is beautiful! It is white gold and has three stones. One is Jason's, the middle one is mine (a diamond!) and the third one is Carlyn's. I love it. He did a wonderful job for my first Mother's Day!

Back in April was my golden birthday...26! Jason and I decided we would leave Carlyn with his parents and go to a movie and dinner. Well, we didn't go to a movie, but we got to run around and go shopping without a stroller! We then went to the brand new Nando's Mexican Cantina for dinner. Little did I know Jason had planned a big surprise dinner with a bunch of our friends and family. There were about 25 people there. We sat on the patio and enjoyed Mexican food and margaritas! It was a lot of fun! Thanks baby! I think those are all the updates for now.

Just a quick update...we are all great! Carlyn is sleeping very well now, she is going about seven hours at night...which is just great! The first time she did it Jason rushed in to her room, worried that something was wrong because she hadn't woken up in the middle of the night (she was sleeping about four or five hours before). She was perfectly fine. She loves to scoot around in her crib and never stays where we put her at the beginning of the night! She is still refluxing, but not nearly as bad anymore! I go back to work next week, and am dreading it. We go to the doctor next week for her eight week appointment, and I will give more updates then! Here are some more pictures of her.

"They grow so fast"

Everyone told me that they grow up so fast...you just don't realize how fast until you have one! I can't believe how big Carlyn is getting. She is now six weeks old, and last time we weighed her she was 9lbs, 5oz. She is also two inches longer than she was at birth! She is in the 50% for her weight, and the 90% for her height! She is going to be so tall! About three weeks ago, Carlyn started fighting sleep REALLY bad. She would get to sleep and then wake up screaming. She would do this for three or four hours...especially in the middle of the night. I felt so bad because you could tell she was in pain, and there was nothing I could do to help. We gave her mylicon and it seemed to only help some of the time. When we went to the doctor, we found she had reflux. So, we got Zantac and are also giving her gripe water. So far it has made a world of difference. She still fights sleep pretty bad, but she doesn't cry and scream, she simply just stays awake and looks around, afraid she is going to miss something! She doesn't seem to be in pain anymore. It was so hard to watch her be in pain. I never realized it would hurt so incredibly bad to watch your child cry and be in pain. It broke my heart over and over again. She still spits up and throws up often, but it doesn't seem to hurt when she does...it doesn't even phase her anymore.

She is doing new things everyday, and Jason and I love to see what she will do next or what new face she will make. She loves her tongue! She sticks it out all the time and plays with it. She did this inside too, just take a peek back at my ultrasound pictures...she was already sticking it out! She is smiling all the time, and loves it when you smile at her...she intently looks at you and finally smiles back! It's the greatest feeling in the world! Within the last week, she has also showed us her laugh! Can you believe it...she laughs out loud...not often, but it's great when she does! She loves her daddy very much, and loves to talk to him and kiss him all the time! He has no problem with this, as he is totally in love with her! We've even been to the firestation a few times! Yesterday, she rolled over from her back to her tummy...I couldn't believe it. I put her in her crib, and she cried for about five minutes. When she stopped, I figured she went to sleep. Much to my surprise, when I went in her room, she was all the way on her tummy with her head up looking around. She was very happy! I am trying very hard to get it on tape...hopefully soon I can post that, however, she seems to be a bit camera shy. I am loving being a mom and I can't imagine anything better! Two years!

March 24th was our two year anniversary! It has been the greatest two years being with each other. We both feel so blessed that our lives intertwined and we now have a beautiful little girl. It's amazing. Since Carlyn was only three weeks old, we didn't want to leave her yet, so she came with us. She was a very good girl and she let us eat our whole dinner and dessert without waking up once! We started off the day going to our favorite breakfast place, Eggingtons. We ran some errands, came home, took a nap, and then went to dinner. We ate at The Keg. It was delicious! They had the best food, and great service. We even got a free appetizer because it was our anniversary! Two years has gone by so fast, and I can't wait for each year to come!

Okay, after 50 hours of labor, two epidurals, and three weeks to recover, i have finally uploaded all the pictures of our beautiful little girl! She was born March 1, 2009. 7pounds, 3ounces, and 20 inches long!

It all started on Thursday Feb. 26th. We went to the doctor, and I was very ready to have this little girl! I was dilated to a 3 and 85% effaced. Dr. Damore stripped my membranes, and said I should be in labor within 24 to 48 hours! Great, I couldn't wait! Well, Thursday night my contractions became stronger, but still not consistent...so more waiting. Friday morning I woke up with contractions ten to twelve minutes apart! Awesome...we have consistency! Jason and I walked ALL day long...everywhere. They gradually became closer and closer...ten minutes, seven minutes...just waiting for five. Five never seemed to come. The doctor told us to go in when the contractions were five minutes apart for one hour. Saturday morning at 1230 I woke up with contractions five minutes apart. I watched the clock, and at 145 Jason and I went to the hospital. We walked...some more, and when they checked me I was only 3.5cm dilated...great. So, home we went. They basically told me to come back when they were more painful. Jason and I became very frusterated and extremely tired. We didn't sleep all day (how could we?). They started to become stronger and stronger as the day past. At four that evening, my whole family was telling me, you should go back now. My contractions were strong enough that I couldn't talk through them, and they were very uncomfortable. At this point, I had been having contractions five minutes apart for 15 hours...REALLY??? They checked me and I was still only 3.5cm dilated. They were going to give me a shot of morphine and send me home...I don't think so! Luckily my water broke on it's own and I was admitted! Two hours later I was only 4cm. So, they started Pitocin at 1100 Saturday evening. I got my first epidural at about midnight...it numbed my right thigh...that's it! Well, the baby was not coming out of there, and I could still feel everything. So, they pulled it out an hour and a half later and started another one! AMAZING! I coudn't feel any pain. I finally got some sleep. Jason on the other hand never left my side and didn't sleep. He was so great the whole time I was in labor. Finally at 630 Sunday morning I was 7cm dilated! YEAH!!! Then, quickly at 730 I was a ten. They told us I was ready to push...wait...you mean I have to push! Once it was time, I realized she would be here soon! I was nervous, excited, and scared all at the same time. 45minutes later, Carlyn arrived! It was the most amazing feeling, indescribable. This little girl that Jason and I created was finally here, laying on my chest! The love you feel is like no other!

So, now three weeks later, I am feeling great! The recovery part was a lot easier for me than I thought it would be. Carlyn is a pretty good baby. She has bad nights, and when she does, they are REALLY bad. BUT, she has more good nights than bad and will go four to six hours without waking up! This is so nice! Jason is so in love with her and was able to take off three weeks of work to just be with me and her! He missed her very much on his first day back!She has a lot of hair, and I can't wait to be able to put bows and barretts in it! There are a lot of pictures below, and i still have more to upload. A couple weeks ago, we took our maternity pictures. Jason loved it! (I say this VERY sarcastically). It was fun! Cayla Rynerson took them, and she did a fabolous job. Thanks again Cayla. There is also a new post below, that some of you may not have read yet, it's pretty new, but I wanted to get these up. She took tons of picures, but here are some of my favorites...there are a lot of them! Five more weeks. I can't belive it. I will post pictures of her room very soon. Jason is doing a wonderful job on it! I am feeling pretty good these days, just starting to get uncomfortable by mid day...but well worth it! I am also just starting to swell, but not too bad if I drink plenty of water! So many thoughts are going through my head, and I can barely sleep. So many things to do and buy still...ahhh!!! But, I can't wait until she gets here, and I can just enjoy her and our new family!

It's a tear jerker

My friend e-mailed me this, and I fell in love with it. It made me cry...multiple times...although many things do that to me now! I can't wait to feel all of these things...only five weeks left! We took our maternity pictures, and I will try to post those by this weekend! It's long, but take a quiet minute and read through it...you'll be glad you did.

Being a MOM...

We are sitting at lunch one day when my daughter casually mentions that she and her husband are thinking of starting a family. 'We're taking a survey', she says half-joking. 'Do you think I should have a baby?' 'It will change your life' I say, carefully keeping my tone neutral. 'I know,' she says, 'no more sleeping in on weekends, no more spontaneous vacations.' But that is not what I meant at all.

I look at my daughter, trying to decide what to tell her. I want her to know what she will never learn in childbirth classes. I want to tell her that the physical wounds of child bearing will heal, but becoming a mother will leave her with an emotional wound so raw that she will forever be vulnerable. I consider warning her that she will never again read a newspaper without asking, 'What if that had been MY child?' That every plane crash, every house fire will haunt her. That when she sees pictures of starving children, she will wonder if anything could be worse than watching your child die. I look at her carefully manicured nails and stylish suit and think that no matter how sophisticated she is,becoming a mother will reduce her to the primitive level of a bear protecting her cub. That an urgent call of 'Mom!' will cause her to drop her best crystal without a moments hesitation. I feel that I should warn her that no matter how many years she has invested in her career, she will be professionally derailed by motherhood.She might arrange for childcare, but one day she will be going into an important business meeting and she will think of her baby's sweet smell. She will have to use every ounce of discipline to keep from running home, just to make sure her baby is all right. I want my daughter to know that every day decisions will no longer be routine. That a five year old boy's desire to go to the men's room rather than the women's at McDonald's will become a major dilemma. That right there,in the midst of the scattering trays and screaming children, issues of independence and gender identity will be weighed against the prospect that a child molester may be lurking in that restroom. However decisive she may be at the office, she will second-guess herself constantly as a mother. Looking at my attractive daughter, I want to assure her that eventually she will shed the pounds of pregnancy, but she will never feel the same about herself. That her life, now so important, will be of less value to her once she has a child. That she would give herself up in a moment to save her offspring, but will also begin to hope for more years, not to accomplish her own dreams, but to watch her child accomplish theirs. I want her to know that a cesarean scar or shiny stretch marks will become badges of honor. My daughter's relationship with her husband will change, but not in the way she thinks. I wish she could understand how much more you can love a man who is careful to powder the baby or who never hesitates to play with his child.

I think she should know that she will fall in love with him again for reasons she would now find very unromantic. I wish my daughter could sense the bond she will feel with women throughout history who have tried to stop war, prejudice and drunk driving. I want to describe to my daughter the exhilaration of seeing your child learn to ride a bike. I want to capture for her the belly laugh of a baby who is touching the soft fur of a dog or cat for the first time. I want her to taste the joy that is so real it actually hurts. My daughter's quizzical look makes me realize that tears have formed in my eyes. 'You'll never regret it,' I finally say. Then I reached across the table, squeezed my daughter's hand and offered a silent prayer for her, and for me, and for all the mere mortal women who stumble their way into this most wonderful of callings.

Updates and 3D Ultrasound (It's a long one)

I hope everyone's Christmas was good! We had a fabolous holiday. I had to work on Christmas day...unfortunatley the babies do not get better for Christmas, so into work I go. It wasn't too bad though. My family did Christmas on Christmas eve and it was a good time. My wonderful in-laws came to my mom's house and we all ate and exchanged gifts. My mom and dad got Jason and I a video camera so we can videotape all the action that will be our little Carlyn. Jason's mom and dad got us a rocker recliner, chocolate brown microfiber suede, so that we will be able to rock our little girl to sleep. (I may be sleeping in it this in a month or so, when I can't breathe at all when I lay down). I am very thankful to both our parents for these gifts! We love them, and needed both! Jason and I are already looking forward to the day we will be able to spend the holidays with our little one! I came home Christmas night, and Jason and I sat on the couch, and there was a comfortable silence. I then realized, in a good way, that in a few months, our house will NEVER be that quiet again. It is an overwhelming feeling! One that I wouldn't trade for anything!

I am now 30 weeks. Only 10 more to go, and I know this next 10 weeks will go by very fast! In my doctor's appointment this week, she said I am measuring perfectly for 30 weeks! We ordered her crib and dresser, and are starting to paint her room. The closer I get, the more excited and nervous I get. I can't wait to see what she looks like and am nervous for all of the unknowns. I am also starting to read (by the dog whisperer) how to introduce the dog to the newest member of our family. I am thinking Rosco will be very attentive to her, but also jealous! I am feeling really good these days, and love feeling her move all the time. She is a very active girl! She has recently discovered my side, and loves to shove her feet in it. It is not the most comfortable, but I gently push her feet back in, and she cooperates well! It is amazing to feel her little feet, you can actually feel them! It's crazy. Warning, there is a belly shot below, and it is not small!

We got a 3D ultrasound last Friday. It is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. It's just a miracle to see this little girl moving around, yawning, smiling, sticking out her tongue, and sucking her fingers while she's still inside me. Technology has come a long way. The pictures are clear and you can see everything. She still looks like Jason, most people have been saying. Let me know what you think. I put a picture of me and Jason up when we were 5, so you can compare. I couldn't find any pictures of us as babies at the moment. Little miss Carlyn already has hair too. You could see it on the ultrasound, and there is quite a bit of it too, and she has 10 weeks to grow more!

The Grayson Wedding!

On November 1st, two of my good friends got married!!! It was a beautiful wedding, and I wish them the best! Here are a few pics from the wedding. I was 23 weeks preggo, and must say being in a bridesmaid dress that pregnant is not much fun...but I was so glad to be able to do it for these guys! I am much bigger now also...she keeps growing and growing (a good thing) and so do I!

I was challenged by a couple people to do this! So, here we go. I had to go to the fourth album on my computer, pick the fourth picture, and write four interesting things about it!1. This picture was taken on Jason's 26th birthday!

2. Jason was trying to give me a kiss, a big wet sloppy one, and I was trying to stop him, all while someone happen to have my camera!

Family Pictures

A few weeks ago, my family got together to take our annual family photos! Of course, like always, Jason and my dad hated every second of it! But, thanks to Nick Narducci (http://www.nicholasmatthewphoto.com/newblog/), they turned out great! We took them at Tempe Town Lake, and when we first got there, we realized it was the same weekend as a big triathlon. Lucky for us, Nick found some great spots to take pictures. I know I posted a lot of them, but I liked so many, I couldn't decide which ones to show! Thanks again Nick, and thanks Becca for the referral!

It's Official

So, it's official...her name will be Carlyn Faye Newman! I am so excited to get to call her by name now. We went to the doctor a couple of days ago, and she said everything looks great. I am measuring perfect for 24 weeks, and the heartbeat is nice and strong. Carlyn is growing and growing, and we are getting more and more excited...and stressed!

We are starting to work on her nursery. Jason and I picked the bedding out together, although he was extremely picky and said that this was the ONLY one he liked. We are thinking about painting the room a tan color on three walls, and pink on the other. Then, Jason's idea again, painting dark brown paw prints on the wall! I think it will be very cute! We are going to get the bedding, the lamp, and the hamper, we are debating on the mobile. What do all you mom's out there think?!

I am feeling great these days with the exceptions of a few uncomfortable pregnancy pains. But, I can't complain too much. After working today, with an extremely sick infant who was born at 25 weeks, as old as Carlyn is now, it brings into perspective that the uncomfortable pains I am feeling are nothing. I can't imagine how it feels to see your one and a half pound baby lying there sick and in pain. It is unbearable to even think about, and my thoughts and prayers are with that family.

We are also starting to look at all of the different items we will soon need (sooner than we think)! I have been looking at strollers and travel systems. I have heard that the Chicco travel system and the Gracco systems are good too. I'm not sure where we are going to get our furniture at yet, but I've been looking around. I think I want the convertabile crib, so she will be able to use it for a while. I think I want the swing that swings both ways. It is a bit overwhelming shopping. There are so many different brands and items out there, I don't know which ones are better!!! Ahhh! So, moms out there, give me your advice. Which items do you love and would you not buy if you could go back?!

It's a GIRL!!!

So, we found out last friday...it's a girl! We are so excited, we can hardley stand it. All of our sisters are very excited also. I've already bought her two new dresses and some cute pink onesies! I can't believe I'm going to have a daughter...it's amazing! We haven't decided on any names yet, but here are a few we like. Let us know what you think. Audrey, Dylan, and Carlyn. Jason's dad's name is Carl, so she would be named after her grandpa. Her middle name will probabley be Faye, named after my mom. I'm realy liking Carlyn and Dylan, then Audrey. So, we'll see. I am feeling much better these days...although I've been told not to get too used to it, the third trimester will bring many uncomfortable days. I may change my mind later, but I say nothing can be worse than being nauseous and throwing up ALL day. So, bring it on! We have started picking out stuff for her room, and I am getting very curious to know what she will look like. For those of you who don't know, Jason is half black, half Italian. I'm white as white can be, and my whole family has blue eyes! So, there are many options in our gene pool! I wonder if she will look anything like I picture her to be...only more beautiful, I'm sure. So, any advice from those mom's of little girls???

She has huge feet! Right now, they are 3cm long, and she's only 17! That's almost a quarter of her whole body!

Updates!

So, I haven't written in a while. I know, I'm bad. But, I have recently just uploaded some pictures of labor day weekend...I know, a bit late! But, I will post those soon, along with those lovely belly pictures! So, we have our next ultrasound on October 10...this is the one where we find out if it's a boy or girl! We are SO excited, we can hardly wait. I'm not sure either way, I'm leaning towards a boy, but was leaning towards a girl up until 12weeks. So...who knows! Either way, we will be so excited and happy! On another good note, I have been feeling much better!

I have recently decided to apply to Missouri University for my masters program. They have a distance learning Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program, and for this I am grateful! I think this will help with a baby coming! I will apply in February and be done in about 1 1/2 to 2 years. Then...no more school! The program will be tough, I'm sure, but it is what I have always wanted to do and I am determined to do it. Even more so now, that we will have a family. This little baby is more motivation for me to go back to school and in the end have a better job and life for our family. I refuse to work weekends and holidays for the rest of my life! I want to be off and enjoy life with my family, and I cannot wait to be able to do this (especially since the holidays are coming up and I have to work Christmas this year...boo). I will continue to work, part time or full time, I'm not sure and where I'm not sure either, I've been thinking about this also! I am very excited to embark on this new journey as well as a little (okay, more than a little) nervous!

Jason has recently been doing some side work with one of the other firefighters he works with. This guy has a company that does large landscaping. Basically Jason gets to drive a tractor, mow about an acre or two and get paid PRETTY well to do it! He only does it on his days off in the morning and he's done by the afternoon! He likes it and he's learning a lot about owning large pieces of land (which just means he wants some!) The guy he works with has chickens, roosters, geese, horses, goats, and more on his farm! I got to go the other day and it was pretty fun to hang out with all the animals. Jason is doing all this side work so he can save to buy a truck! Sounds like a pretty good idea to me. Save up, and then no (or little) car payment!

So, Jason and I are just trying to prepare for all these changes that lie ahead for us. We are very excited and feel very blessed to have the love, family, and support that we do!

One tiny baby!

That's right...there is one baby in there! We were so excited to see the ultrasound and our baby. It is amazing and there are no words that can describe the feeling you have when you see what you have created actually growing inside you. The cougar was laying on his/her side the whole time. The x-ray tech would try to wake the baby up or try to move him/her, but no luck. Cougar would stretch the little arms and legs he/she has and would go back to sleep. It was actually pretty cute. The x-ray tech had me get up, jump up and down, stretch, touch my toes to see if we could get the baby to move. No such luck. All that did was give the cougar the hiccups!!! It was so funny to watch. The whole little body would jump with each and every hiccup. It was so fun to watch. They gave us a DVD, but I cannot get it to work to post it on here. So, that will have to wait. But, here are some pictures of the little one.
We will have another ultrasound in about four or five weeks to find out if we are having a little Jason or a little Lynda!!! We cannot wait. Jason can barely contain himself. Before the ultrasound I thought it was a girl. But now, I keep calling the baby a him...look at his hand, look at him move. So, now I have NO idea! I know some mom's have a feeling...I have no clue. Some days I think it's a girl and some I think it might be a boy. So, only time will tell and the next ultrasound! I will keep you updated on that for sure! As for me...well, I've been feeling better. Not 100%, but I'm not sure I will for a while. I have my good days and my bad days. Some days I feel great, and some I feel nauseous all day still! I always get sick, good or bad day, around 7:30 or 8:00 every day. So, I'm thinking that's when the little cougar will some day make his/her appearance. We'll just have to wait and see! So look at the pictures, and take your guess...boy or girl???!!!

The Heartbeat!

Jason and I had our 12week appointment this past Friday. The Doctor said that everything looked good and then we finally got to hear the heartbeat! It was pretty amazing. Jason never fails to make me laugh when we are in the OBs office! While Dr. Damore had the doppler on my belly, Jason had to say..."Wow, it sounds pretty windy in there!" He's too funny, and that's why I love him! I cannot explain the feelings when you hear your baby's heartbeat for the first time! So, everyone is asking...there was only ONE heartbeat??? Well, yes...only one. BUT...the doctor said that even if there were two (or three, let's hope not!) that she would only hear one, because the baby is so small that it would be pretty difficult to decipher if it was only one beat or two. So, we wait again! But, wednesday is our first ultrasound...two days!!! We are so excited, and a little nervous. Working where I work, it's hard not to be nervous...I know too much! But, I cannot wait to see our little baby for the first time. I will update on Wednesday...with pictures!!!

Two more weeks!

So, just an update on how things are going! I've been sick, and some days are good, some not so good! I'm hoping this only lasts another two weeks, and then I will be feeling better...hopefully! In two weeks, we also get to go to the doctor and have our first ultrasound! YEAH! We are so excited! My mom still thinks it's twins, I just think it's one...but I'm leaning towards a girl, right now anyway! All I want to eat is fruit! I also am starting to show...already! I know, everyone says...no, you're just bloated or you can't be showing yet...well tell that to the baby, cause when I show people, they say...wow, you are showing! Crazy!

Also, we have started calling the baby Cougar, until we know what it is...why??? Well, Jason thinks Cougar is a tough name, and we were listening to a John Cougar Mellencamp song and he asked if we could have part of the baby's name be cougar...I immediatley said NO! He then said if we did, when it grows up and plays golf....it could be the Cougar against the Tiger!!! My husband is crazy! Anyways, as a result, the baby is Cougar, until we know what it is and we give it a name. Although, Jason still is trying to convince me to have the middle name be Cougar if it's a boy...oh man! I'll update again for sure in two weeks after the ultrasound!

Big Changes!

So, it's finally happened (for everyone who was waiting)...we are pregnant!!! We are so very excited for this new change in our lives. We found out about a month ago, but wanted to wait until we had our first appointment to say anything. Well, we had our first appointment this past Thursday, and she said everything looks good so far! I'm almost 9 weeks. I have been feeling sick at times, but I know that it is all worth it in the end. Jason has really been reading about pregnancy, and knows everything! He tells me what is normal, what's not normal, what I should eat, what I shouldn't eat, and much more! He is going to be a great dad. He is so excited and can hardly wait! We had only been trying about two months when we found out the good news. Jason was golfing when I took the test, and I had to hold it in for 6 hours!!! It was hard! We bought shirts that say "mommy to be" and "dad to be" and wore them over to our parents house! Both of our families are also very excited for this new change as well. My mom cried for at least ten minutes! She was just happy that I didn't have trouble getting pregnant like she did. I have to admit, it was a relief for me too. My mom swears up and down it's twins. For those of you who don't know, my dad is a twin, and for the past five generations...there have been twins. There is no skipping generations in my family! So, while it's a possiblity, I'm just not sure...but she is. We have our first ultrasound in about three weeks. I will keep you all updated! We can't wait!

So...we don't have kids to write about yet...so our kids are our pets! I have learned from them though, that you can teach them to do what you want....and sometimes, they will just do what they want...Rosco in the trash and Dude in the laundry bag!

I haven't updated everyone in a while...sorry, I'm still new to this blogging thing! So, on June 9th, Jason turned 26!!! It was fun, we got to hang out with some friends and family, and we had a good time! Oh yeah, and we bought a new TV...yeah!!! Our first big screen. 50inch plasma...and I love it! As Jason said...we might never leave the house again! ;-) Oh, and Jason plays football for the Phoenix Thunder (Fire department and police) and they played in their national game against NYFD. Unfortunately, they didn't win (even though they should have!), but they gave it great effort, and Jason played really well!

Jamaica!!!

Jason and I went to Jamaica for our first anniversary. It was so much fun! We stayed at Sandals Montego Bay! I would highly recommend it, as we had a blast! We went kayaking, snorkeling, hydro-biking, swimming, sailing, and much more. Jason played volleyball everyday, as I sat and watched! We also got to go on a cruise to Margaritaville in Jamaica! It was crazy! They have a 100 foot slide you go down and it shoots you straight into the ocean! Then you get to swim out to these trampolines, and jump on them…in the middle of the ocean! It was great! Here are a few pictures! We can’t wait to go back someday!
